Publishing
Contribute to Prajna Insights
We are looking for scholars, researchers, translators, photographers, historians, travellers, and practitioners willing to write with the care this subject deserves.
Prajna Insights is built on contribution, not a permanent in-house roster. If you read Sanskrit, Tamil, Pali, or another classical language and can translate it responsibly; if you have spent time studying a darshana, a temple, or a practice closely enough to write about it with authority; or if you have walked a pilgrimage route or photographed a site worth documenting — we would like to hear from you, whether or not you have written for publication before.
We do not require academic credentials as a condition of contribution. We do require that what you submit is accurate, sourced, and your own work, or properly licensed where it is not.
What we accept
Essays
Long-form pieces on scripture, philosophy, history, science, or the arts, written for an intelligent general reader.
Research
Original findings or a considered synthesis of existing scholarship, with full citation.
Translations
Annotated translations of primary texts, with the source edition named and your method disclosed.
Book reviews
Considered assessments of new and recent scholarship, in Sanskrit, English, or other languages.
Travelogues
First-person accounts of pilgrimage, temple visits, and living tradition, grounded in what you actually saw.
Interviews
Conversations with scholars, acharyas, and practitioners, transcribed accurately and in context.
Temple documentation
Architectural, epigraphic, or historical documentation of temples and sacred sites.
Historical photography
Original or properly licensed photographs of relevance to the tradition, with full provenance.
What we do not accept
- Political propaganda or electoral commentary of any kind
- Hate speech, or content demeaning a caste, community, gender, or region
- Claims presented as fact that cannot be traced to a citable source
- AI-generated submissions not disclosed as such at the point of submission
On the use of AI
If AI tools substantially assisted your research, drafting, or translation, tell us at the point of submission. This is not a disqualification — see our own Editorial Policy on how we use these tools ourselves — but undisclosed AI-generated submission is treated as a breach of trust, and repeated instances will end our willingness to consider further work from the same contributor.
Rights and payment
You retain copyright in your contribution; publication grants us the licence described in our Copyright Policy. We are a young, independent publication and cannot yet offer payment for most contributions; where a specific commission does carry payment, this is agreed with you in writing before you begin.
How to submit
Write to contribute@prajnainsights.com with a short pitch — a paragraph is enough — describing what you would like to write, your relevant background or sources, and, for translations or documentation, the text or site involved. For finished work rather than a pitch, attach it directly along with a note on your sources. We read every submission and aim to respond within two weeks, even where the answer is no.
