Copyright ownership

Prajna Insights is published by Dashapramati Solutions (“we,” “us,” “the publisher”). Unless a piece is explicitly credited to an outside contributor and marked otherwise, the text of every article, the site’s design, and its original illustrations are the copyright of Dashapramati Solutions. Contributed essays, reviews, translations, and photographs remain the intellectual property of their named authors, published here under a licence agreed with the publisher at the time of contribution, as set out in our Contribute guidelines.

The underlying scriptures, epics, and philosophical texts we write about are not our property and were never anyone’s to own; our copyright covers our writing about them, not the tradition itself.

Fair use and quotation

You are welcome to quote a short passage from any article — a sentence or two, enough to represent the point fairly — for criticism, commentary, journalism, or academic citation, provided you credit Prajna Insights by name and link to the original article. This is a courtesy we extend generously and expect in return: quotation that removes context to misrepresent what we wrote is not fair use as we understand it, whatever a particular jurisdiction’s statute permits.

Images

Photographs on Prajna Insights are used under public-domain status or a free-culture licence such as Creative Commons, with the photographer or source credited in the article in which the image appears. A credited photographer’s inclusion here does not imply their endorsement of this publication or its editorial views. If you are a photographer and believe an image has been used beyond the terms of its licence, or without a credit that is due, write to copyright@prajnainsights.com and we will correct or remove it promptly.

Embedded video

Where we embed a video — from YouTube or another platform — the video remains the property of its original uploader and platform; we do not claim ownership of embedded material, and embedding should not be read as an endorsement of everything else on the embedding channel. We remove an embed on request from the rights-holder.

Reader and contributor submissions

When you submit an essay, translation, photograph, or other work through our Contribute process, you retain your copyright in it. Submission grants Dashapramati Solutions a non-exclusive licence to edit, publish, and archive the work on Prajna Insights and to promote it through our own channels. We do not sell contributor work to third parties, and we do not claim exclusivity over a contributor’s future work unless a separate, specific agreement says otherwise in writing.

DMCA and takedown requests

If you believe material on Prajna Insights infringes a copyright you hold, write to copyright@prajnainsights.com with: (1) identification of the copyrighted work; (2) the specific URL of the material you believe infringes it; (3) your contact details; and (4) a statement that you hold the rights in question or are authorised to act on the rights-holder’s behalf. We investigate every notice in good faith and aim to respond within seven working days, removing or crediting material as the facts warrant.

Permissions

For any use beyond the fair-use quotation described above — reproducing a full article, using an image commercially, or translating our work into another language — write to copyright@prajnainsights.com describing the intended use. We are generally well disposed toward educational and non-commercial requests and will tell you plainly, and quickly, where the answer is no.

Republishing our work

We are open to syndication and republication arrangements with other publications, particularly not-for-profit and academic ones, on the condition that the piece runs unedited (beyond house style), with full author credit and a visible link back to the original on Prajna Insights.
